Meet The Team

Sagas of She is a young company looking to make its mark in the museum and heritage sector, it is owned and operated by Gemma Apps and Emily Casson.

The team met at the University of East Anglia while reading for their MA in Cultural Heritage and Museum Studies. Following their studies they discovered just how much of women’s history is hidden in the footnotes of others and they decided to use a blog and podcast to help remember these forgotten women.

I hold a BA in history and an MA in Cultural Heritage and Museum Studies, both from the University of East Anglia. My research interests include; medieval history, landscape history with a focus on county houses and their gardens, and all aspects of religious history. My recent focus has been exploring the role sacred spaces play as tourist attractions and the issues that arise from their dual function.

I hold a BA in Archaeology and a MA in Cultural Heritage and Museum Studies. My areas of historical interest are mainly fixed in the ancient aspects of history, but over the last year I have found myself drawn to the role of the women in the Women’s Auxiliary Air Force during the Second World War following a Visitor Service internship at Bawdsey Radar in Suffolk.

Collective Experience-

Collectively our experience includes creating museum trails and family activities for both in person and online use. Along with family activities we also have experience with the creation of a Key Stage 2 learning program for use in museums.

We have experience in creating activities that work in a range of buildings from museums to historic churches. Taking care to make sure they work within the space available.

Additionally we have experience running events and managing teams and volunteers, providing tours for a variety of visitors and we have been involved with project evaluation for such events.

Through both our blog and the podcast we have also been able to gain experience with researching and recording of content, and this has led to Emily’s involvement with a National Heritage Lottery Funded project with Bawdsey Radar, you can listen to their podcast here, in this project Emily was asked to produce 8 podcasts as well as create 4 of her own.

Gemma has been involved with the Norwich Historic Churches Trust where she was asked to research and create research banners for visitors as well as volunteer crib sheets. Her involvement with the NHCT has also meant that Gemma has gained invaluable experience with grant applications and reinterpretation plans.

Furthermore, we have experience with social media promotion and you can see our social media pages here – Facebook, Twitter, Instagram as well as experience with website creation.
